Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a common complaint seen by our Chiropractors at Wellsure Chiropractic.
Carpal tunnel most frequently presents as wrist tightness and pain at the base of the palm, with pins and needles sensation or numbness into the palm and first 3 digits.
This pain is caused by entrapment of the median nerve between the tissues of the carpal bones and flexor retinaculum. This compression can stem from repetitive movement or overuse activities that can lead to tension and tightness in the soft tissues of the wrist. People who use their hands a lot for work or sport, particularly weight lifters, massage therapists, machine operators, and admin workers are commonly affected. Diabetics and people with Rheumatoid Arthritis are also at a higher risk for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
As Carpal Tunnel involves compression of the nerve, a thorough physical and neurological examination may be conducted by one of our chiropractors.
Chiropractic Treatment for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is on a case-by-case basis but may include manual adjustments of the wrist and spine, soft tissue therapy and rehabilitation.
